Park feature - Island Works
We would like to introduce our broader Inospace community to one of our most historically rich and centrally located parks – Island Works.
This park is located at the heart of Paarden Eiland; a mixed-use industrial space. The story of Paarden Eiland’s turbulent founding is a testament to the vision and tenacity of the human spirit – and it’s a legacy we’re quite proud to be a part of.
A Brief History of Paarden Eiland
In the early 1900s Cape Town city planners decided that Paarden Eiland was a perfect location for industry. With this vision in mind, 1912 marked the start of the construction of Marine Drive, a road to establish trade in the area. The construction of this road was plagued by setbacks due to harsh conditions and heavy storms coming off the nearby sea.
Despite this, Paarden Eiland became recognised as an industrial node in 1935, after 23 years of trial and error. More than 100 years later, Paarden Eiland is the most sought-after industrial location in the Western Cape. And it’s through the spirit of Paarden Eiland’s founding that Island Works was built and continues to grow.
Island Works: A Park to be Proud of
This story is significant as entrepreneurs know a thing or two about the power of tenacity and vision. Island Works is a park that houses a diverse range of clients, bound together by the determination it takes to succeed. These clients take advantage of the ease of logistics, central location, safety, easy access, and support from our park managers to grow their business.
Island Works boasts all the convenience of the city at a fraction of the cost. It’s made up of a collection of four buildings offering office, studio, warehousing and workshop space. Housing a range of facilities to support clients to do business better – a flagship and cutting edge business centre (hub), an onsite café, dedicated centre manager and a range of spaces that benefit from wooden floors, large windows, roller shutter access and generous heights. The Works’ facilities include high-spec meeting rooms with plug and play technology, kitchen, pause areas, car parking, as well as networking and social pause areas.
Island Works is thriving today through the support of our clients, and the support of our largest onsite management team. We would like to take this opportunity to highlight our ambassador of tenacity and vision: Community Manager, Agnes Ndlovu.
